We have been receivinga number of questionson the status on our Unit 2 state contract as well as funding for our higher education collective bargaining agreements. We thank our members for their patience as we work to move contract funding through the long and often slow legislative processas quickly as possible.
These contracts area few of more than60contractswith multiple unions thatareawaiting funding by the legislature.
As for a timeline for finalizing the funding for these agreements, these budget billsaretypically wrapped upinlate fall. However, Council 93 is working in coalition with other public-sector unions to move the process along as quickly as possible, offering ideas that include but are not limited to,asking the legislature topassa scaled down version of the budget that simply includes items both branches agree on -such as funding and ratifying collective bargaining agreements. Rest assured we will continue to do so andonce the process is finalized, pay increases will be retroactive to the start date of the contract. We are cautiously optimistic that funding for all ratified contractswill be approved and sent to the governor by mid-October.
